Man, I haven't written a Newgrounds blog post in a while.
In case you don't know what A Game Where You Play as a Bucket (AGWYPaaB) is, you can check it out here
This year, my good pal KAD and I started developing a game. This game is a silly little shitpost game about a bucket and his friends going into different realities. We originally came up with a prototype made in TurboWarp and released it on Newgrounds (You can play it here). I initially wasn't really thinking of making this game into anything crazy, but that quickly changed.
I ended up remaking the whole thing in GameMaker over the summer and released it in September. After doing that, I quickly started coming up with more and more ideas for updates. A little over a month later, we released an update that brought cosmetics for your character.
Around a week ago, we released another update that really just added a bunch of random stuff. It added new music to the menus, the ability to screenshot stuff in game, hats, new winter related cosmetics, and some cool ranks for battles. This update was relatively small, but fun to make.
Now I've got a lot of work to do. We're currently working on an update that plans to make the character "D-Money" playable (I guess it isn't just "A Game Where You Play as a Bucket" anymore). There are two routes we can go with it: we can be lazy and just reskin what we already have, or we can make an entire new level. You can take a guess to which one we're doing. With a whole new level to work on, I'm gonna be busy for at least a little while.
Anyways, I'm just writing this to kinda recap what we've done. There's still a lot of work needed to be put into this game, but I'm trying my best to get it done. I'm basically the only person working on it. KAD makes music and concept art for the game, but aside from that, everything else is done entirely by me. I'm slowly working on making this game good. It may suck ass right now, but it won't in the near future (hopefully).
I'm honestly glad I started making this game though. It's helped me improve creatively quite a lot. I finally learned how to code outside of scratch, I'm a bit better at animating, and my music has gotten a bit better too. I think it's funny that this game was originally just gonna be an idea I was gonna give up on within a month. Now, I have a full story planned out and I plan on working on this for as long as I can. I have a lot of shit planned for this game. I can't wait to share it all with you guys!
Anyways, I'm gonna go back into the void and work on the funny bucket game for a while. I'll see y'all Q1 of 2025 (assuming everything goes to plan).
I love making silly storyboards for cutscenes :)
P.S: The remade version of AGWYPaaB will release on Newgrounds next year! I want the game to have more content before I release it over here, so it might be a bit!
